Peyia Town Hall Paphos
Peyia Town Hall is situated in the beautiful village of Peyia close to Coral
Bay. It is approximately a 20-25 minute drive from Paphos old town. It has
an attractive outdoor setting close to the old village spring. Spacious and
pleasant, this venue can provide enough room for all your guests and family.
The Ceremony
In Peyia, the civil ceremony begins with a traditional CD rendition of ‘Here
Comes the Bride’ for the entry of the bride, if the couple wishes. The marriage
officer joins the ceremony after the bride arrives.
Of course, it is entirely your choice what music you decide to use for both the
entry of the bride and the exit of the newlyweds and guests.
During the ceremony the couple remains standing as it is quite short, lasting
about 7-8 minutes.
Who gives the bride away is always her personal choice. However, two witnesses,
each over the age of 18, need to attend. The witnesses can be chosen by you,
the couple. If you do not have any witnesses, two will be provided by the Town
Hall and Ido Weddings.
Ceremonies at Peyia Town Hall can take place between 8:30am and 2pm from Monday
to Friday.
Marriage Licence
After a civil ceremony, the marriage licence is issued immediately. The document
is in English and does not need to be altered in any way nor registered
on your return to the UK. The licence can be used to make changes with
any official documents such as passports or bank information if necessary.
Ido Weddings would suggest that you obtain an extra copy of the licence on
your wedding day. The current cost for this is €13.67 (₤8.00 CYP).
Photography
Peyia is normally recommended by couples who held their ceremonies
there in the past – and for good reason! The wedding venue location is truly
one of the prettiest in Paphos. The quaint setting is surrounded by lush
Cypriot flowers and trees with an old, traditional village spring in the
background. The atmosphere is ideal for photographs and videos. Ido Weddings
recommends a professional service in order to capture the spirit of the day
perfectly.
For those staying in the Coral Bay area it is close to their hotel or villa,
making it more convenient than other civil ceremony venues.
However, it is very important for couples to bear in mind that climate needs
to be taken into consideration for an outdoor ceremony. The days between
May and September have proven to be a huge success.
Necessary Documents
Ido Weddings will assist you in submitting all documentation required in
order for the ceremony to take place prior to the wedding day.
The current cost of a compulsory marriage licence fee and ceremony is €281.92
(₤165.00 CYP).
Registrar
If a couple wishes to hold their ceremony later in the afternoon, an additional
cost of €170.86 (£100.00 CYP) is incurred. The additional cost for an afternoon
wedding conducted by a private registrar at a hotel or villa is €427.15 (£250.00
CYP). This needs be within the jurisdiction of Peyia Town Hal.
Important
Please note that whatever ceremony a couple chooses, they must be in the country for a minimum period of five days or more from beginning to end, for the marriage to go ahead.
